The Magnificent Yoni Madonna

Image
Amanda K. Bridges, "The Magnificent Yoni Madonna", (c) 2023 The Magnificent Yoni Madonna is a dedication to the divine feminine. She takes back ownership of her power of creation. She takes back her ownership of woman. Ownership which man has co opted and reduced to have no more meaning than that of a vessel for use by man. Woman is not a vessel for man. Woman does not exist to be in service of man. Woman, as a vessel, creates life. Woman as a creatrix, channels the divine power of the feminine. Her breath is fertile.  The Magnificent Yoni Madonna is eternal. She cannot be tamed.

Lilith

Amanda K. Bridges, "ode to a whore: the 17 names of Lilith", (c) 2022 Lilith has been much maligned throughout history for refusing to bend to the will of man. Lilith, as a goddess, has dominion over all aspects surrounding sex, fertility and childbirth. She is a wind spirit and cannot be restrained. She lives free and unfettered. She lives her life on her terms. Throughout the centuries, female divinity and power, rather than being celebrated, has been demonized and strangled by the hands of misogyny. Lilith rises up to say no. She refuses to be silenced or restrained and promises retribution if you do not respect her. In the demon-lore of Lilith, she is  the Queen of Demons and often depicted as  a succubus.  It is said that if you can speak one of her names she cannot harm you. If you do a google search on the 17 names of Lilith, you'll find many lists, some with less than 17, some with more, and most with differing names. The list below is my best guess based on commo

I'm happy to be part of the Lexington Art League's PRBHTN 2023 show. I have two pieces in the show. Amanda K. Bridges, "The Magnificent Yoni Madonna", (c) 2023 A dedication the divine feminine and power of creation. Woman, as a vessel, creates life. Woman is not a vessel for man. The Yoni Madonna takes back ownership of herself and transforms the message of Madonna from that of being in service of man that of being the creator of humankind.  Amanda K. Bridges, "ode to a whore: the 17 names of Lilith", (c) 2022 A dedication to the much maligned goddess Lilith. Lilith refused to give up her power and submit to the will of man. She fully owned her sexual energy and channeled her power into herself rather than letting it be taken from her. Instead of glorification, she has been vilified throughout history. called a whore, a succubus, an evil temptress, she has been used to represent man's interpretation of "original sin."  Both of these pieces are
